END OF THE SEASON IN VIEW. 'flic season, which has been a remarkably fine one, looks like closing down rather suddenly this year. Last week's heavy rain and cold southerly winds appear to have taken all the gold out of tlie summer's end, and an early winter seems imminent. Owing to a week's pretty steady downpour, some of the city greens were not available for play at all on Saturday, though the weather was delightful. At the Wellington Club scrim was laid down at the playing ends of the lower green 'to protect the sodden turf as much as possible. Only friendly games were played. NELSON TOURNAMENT. About half a dozen rinks from Wellington are to take part in the Easter tournament at Nelson, commencing on Friday next. The following rinks are going across the Strait from the Wellington Club: — Campbell, Ledger, Erskine, Skinner (s.); Roberts, Norton, Brown, Bush (s.); Wvlie, Brodie, Jackman, Hamilton («■)• " THE BELGIAN TOURNAMENT. Entries for the Wellington Bowling Centre's Easter tournament in aid of the Belgian Fund closed with the club secretaries on Saturday, and will close with the secretary of the centre (Mr. J. J. Roberts) this evening. VICTORIA AND LOWER HUTT. A friendly gome between representatives of the Victoria and Lower Hutt Clubs was played at the latter's green, and resulted as follows: — Hutt—Judd, T. C. Dawson, Hodgins, Nicholson (s.), 29; Victoria—Tingey, Gaudin, Watson, Chapman (s.), 12. Hutt—Allport, AA'obley, Jones, Hollard (s.), 27; Victoria—Campbell, Skinner. North, ifack (s.), 9. Hutt—Norris, Seymour, Kitto,.Pole (s.), 24; Victoria—Levi, Thompson, Mackay, Keith (s.), 21. Hutt—-Hogarth, Keir, Davidson, Hendry (s.), 24; Victoria—Carter, Dixon, Partridge, Townsend (s.), 10. Total—Hutt, 155; Victoria, 72. EDWIN FEATHERS. The last game of the _ season was played between representatives of the Lyall Bay and Victoria Clubs on Saturday afternoon.
