.'from Our Special Correspondent.) A children's bazaar was held at the Ranfurly Hall, Petone, on Saturday in aid of the Belgian Fund. The hall was crowded, and the efforts of the juvenile promoters' were rewarded by a profit of £5 7s. 6d., which is to be handed over to the fund. The stallholders, who wore also the organisers of the gathering, were the Misses Evelyn Olsen (fancy stall), Ada Bond (lollies), Gwendoline Wallace (toys), Mina Lawrie (refreshments), Bella Smith (bran-tub), and Elsie Newlander (fancy). Master H. Woolland worked strenuously to make the affair a success, and the little girls are to be complimented on their efforts, as most of tho articles sold were _ obtained as a result of their canvassing. A football match was played on Saturday at Maidstone Park, tipper Hutt, betweSn teams representing the local and Lower Hutt senior cadets. The game was won by the latter, who scored 22 to nil. Bowers kicked two goals, and Dennehy, P. Smith, Swain, Hallcy, and E. Smith (2) scored tries. At Lower. Hutt the Boys' League cricket team defeated a local boys' team by three runs."
The fiuioral of the late Mrs. Fredk. Flowers, of Petone Esplanade, took place oil Saturday, representatives of tho Gear Co. and the members of tho Court Epuni Lodge, A.0.F., attending. Among the_ tokens of sympathy sent was a floral tribute from the Waingawa Freezing Works' employees. The deceased lady, who was 32 years of age, had spent most of her life in Petone. The servico at the Taita Cemetery was conducted by the Rev. A. L. Hansell.
On Saturday afternoon, whilst turning the comer of Cuba and Jackson Streets at Petone towards Lower Hutt, a motor-cycle collided with a light trap. Neither tho drive of tho latter noi- the two men who rode on tho cycle wore hurt, though all were thrown, but the vehicle and the motor-cyclo were slightly damaged. Tho funeral of the late Wm.» J. Crawford, who met his death as tho result of a fall from a train last Wednesday at Petone, took place at Karori cemetery on Saturday afternoon. There was a large number of followers, including representatives of the Masonic and Orange Lodges and the Ngahauranga Meat Company's employees. The service at the graveside was conducted by the Rev. G'. B. Stephenson.
