FIRE AT KILBIRNIE

TWO HOUSES COMPLETELY' DESTROYED. Two two-story houses at the corner of Smith Street and Moxham Avenue, Kilbirnie, were completely destroyed by fire between 1 and 2 o'clock this morning. One of the houses was occupied by Mr. Jas. G. Godwin, wool buyer, and the other by Mr. M. G. Naismith, linotype operator. Both dwellings were hurnea to 'he ground.. The fire is stated to have commenced in the front upstairs portion of Mr. Godwin's ITouse, and spread rapidly. Both occupants lost heavily, Mr. Naismith saving nothing. It was stated at 1.30 this morning that Mrs. Godwin • was compelled to escape from the burning house by jumping from a top story window, and that in doing so she sustained somewhat severe injuries.
