TE AUTE SHORTHORN CATTLE
There is probably no better-known herd of Shorthorn cattle ill New Zealand than the Te Aute herd, and it is interesting to noto that this famous collection of stud cattle is to be s public auction on April 14, 15, and 16 at the Te Aute homestead by Messrs. Williams and Kettle, Ltd., in conjunction with Messrs. Abraham and Williams. The herd was founded as far back as 1863 by the lato Archdeacon Williams; by the importation from England of several pedigree animals, and by. the purchase of the best cows procurable in New Zealand. .'Bulls and heifers of the best strains have since been procured from England and Australia. The Te Aute cattle have been remarkably successful at agricultural, shows, and champion prizes have been won at Toowoomba (Queensland), Oamaru. Palmerston" North, Hawera, Hastings. In addition to the Shorthorn stud, a miriiber of stud English Leices-. ter sheep (Flock Book No. 202) will be submitted.for sale.
