The annual social in connection with the Petone Methodist Sunday School was held last _ evening, the Nelson Street Chapel being well filled for the occasion. A feature of tho gathering was the distribution, hy the Mayor of Petone (Mr. J. W. M'fiwan), ol prizes won during the year. The weekly meeting of tho Hope of Petone Lodge, 1.0.GT., was held last evening, Bro. Hose, C.T., presiding. During the evening Bro, Montgomery (secretary) was presented with pair "of mililary hair brushes on the occasion of his 21st birthday, Bro. Hose making the presentation On beha.lt of the lodge. In Collet.l. and Son's advertisement on 'Page 1 to-day they offer some bargains in second-hand engines. Anyone in request of cheap power is advised to look t.hToujrh the items carefully.
