RICCARTON TRACK NOTES.
(By Telegraph.—Special Correnoontlflnt.) «l t, i Christchurnh, March 24. Riccarton this morning, writes the Looker-on in the "Evening News," Nightwatch galloped well while running ten furlongs fit a strong three-quarter pace. He moved freely all the way, and pulled hard. After he had cooled down and was doing walking exeroise, lio was rather stiff behind, but it did n«t look serious. Nothing could have galloped with more freedom than Battle Eve and Flying Start, when they were '■•sprinted down the straight ft couple of times. Merry Trick, who picked up Don Francisco for the last eight of ten furlongs, was showing signs of lameness again. Don Frjuicifcu is getting mere sluggish every day. His ruler had to hunt hnu along to make him travel at. three-quarter pace. F.mperadoi: and Bimcter sprinted four furlongs in a dashing manner, and neither was ever off the bit. Adjutant docs not look as well as some time back. Nones, who is inclined to be a little »re in front, tbwira it off trhca douij
her work. Sho splinted three furlongs very freely. This filly will bo a starter in the Champagno Stakes. Fabrikoft' is pulling rather hard again. Ho will be raced 011 the second day of tho C.J.C. meeting. 'there was a Tumour about town yesterday that Warstep had gone wrong, but it is not correct. Tho mare left tho course quite sound, and this morning she did her usual off morning work of trotting in the centre, and pullod up and walked borne as sound as a bell. Eeval was not on the course this morning. Tho trouble is in ono of his fetlock joints. Briar Patch is much too 6ore to do much good for some time. Snub cantered once round the plough. She showed no signs of soreness either before or aflter working. First Plight baa been taken up again, and is being hacked about the roads. He Icr.ks m rare good condition. Banksia was let off with very light work. She is looking in the best of health. Autumnus was quite sound after doing half-pace work. ('• v. 1 • W" oniw in a fluttering fashion for some itiine, was restricted to trotting exercise. t The seven furlong gallop First Glane« had yesterday appears to have done her good. PetTosus does not look as well as she did a fe.w weeks ago. I doubt her ability to stay cut a etrongly-xun seven furlongs. Quarantine, who looked as if he waa getting over his soreness a fow days ago, was very stiff again this morning. Encore is beginning to look something lik-! his old self again. Sartorze is looking more solid and better every day will strip very fit for the 'Easter Handicap. Twelfth Night is also building up, and looks more like he did in the spring.
