• POSITION GOOD. The Labour Department reported yesterday that, the amount of employment offering appeared to be very satisfactory. In Wellington, _ twenty-six married and twenty-four single men applied at the Labour Bureau for work during tho last week. Sixteen married and seventeen singlo applicants were placed in employment.- Of theso five went to Government works and twenty-eight to private works. Seventeen remained unsuited, mainly because they were untitled for manual labour.

lu.Christchurch, thirty-three married and eleven single men applied to the bureau for work. Throe married and four single men were placed,' and th« prospect of-placing the remainder is good. In Auckland the_ applicants were fiftytwo married and ninety-nine single inen. and employment was found for eight married and twelve single men. Nine of these went to Government works, and eleven to private employment. Arrangements will be to employ competent men in the Whangarci district.

In Dunedin, thirteen married and eighteen singlo men applied for work. Five of them were, placed in private employment, and thero will be openings shortly for men on public and tion works.
