SUCCESS OP BOTHA-S TROOPS Capo Town, March 23. Colonel Collins's force on Saturday captured a train at .Takalowter, German South West Africa, and cut the communications with Kubas. It was unable to dislodge the enemy from strong entrenchments, but prevented him from assisting Fort Eberg, where two hundred men surrendered. Meanwhile, Colonel Brits, accompauied by Commandant Botha, attacked an exceptionally strong position at Riet. The men fought all day, many being without food or water for thirty hours. Eventually the enemy retreated, abandoning guns and ammunition, lie blew up the pumping plant, but a large well was left intact. (Hoc. March 24, 10.30 p.m.) Capa Town, March 24. The casualties to the Union forces eastward of Swakomund (the German South-West African port occupied by the British) were thirteen killed, thirtysix wounded, and forty-three missing, MARTIAL LAW IN THE UNION. HEIITZOC! WANTS IT BELAXED. Cape Town, March 23. In the Union Parliament, General Hertzes moved an amendment terminating martial law when the Indemnity Bill was enacted. This was rejected bv 63 to 15. General Smuts.
