(By Telegraph.—Press Association.) Chrlstohurch, March 24. At the W.C.T.U. Convention to-day it was resolved to protest emphatically on behalf of thousands of mothers against the decision of the Defence Department not to send chaplains with the r.exi detachments of the troops for the front, and to earnestly beg the Defence authorities to reconsider the question. It was also resolved that the penalty for serving or procuring, or assisting to jjrooure, intoxicating liquor for a prohibited person should be iraprisonmont without the option of a fine. In the case of persons charged with drunkenness for the third time within six months, it was urged that it should be obligatory upon tho magistrate to issue a prohibition order.
