ATHLETIC SPORTS.

RUGBY FOOTBALL. ORIENTAL CLUB'S ANNUAL MEETINC. Mr. E. Wylie presided at the annual meeting of the Oriental Football Club lust night, there being an attendance of between fifty and sixty members. Tho annual report (already published) and the balance-sheet were adopted. In moving the adoption of the report, the chairman - congratulated members on the success attending the club during the past season. Late in the season the teams had suffered owing to many of the members havnig joined the New Zealand Expeditionary Force, but ho was glad to see that the game had not been placed before the call of the country. So long as players regarded the football field, as a training ground for tho more serious business of life, it was certain that the country in genoral would benefit by the sport. Regarding finance, the chairman said it was pleasing to note that the funds of the club were in such a satisfactory condition. The assets exceeded the liabilities by £346 16s. lid., the cash in hand being £9 18s. 2d., apart from tile sum of £64 7s. 3d. which stood in the bank to the credit of the gymnasium account.

It was docided to commence practice on Saturday next. On the motion of Mr. T. Collerton, it was resolved: "That it be a recommendation to the. committee -to remit tho subscriptions of all members of the club on active service."

Twelve new members were elected

Officers for the ensuing year were elected as follow: —President, Mr. E. Wylie;. vice-presidents, Messrs. John Wilson, T. Bush, Albert Wylie, L. B. Jordan, J. Brown, R. C. Kinvig, D. M'Leod, D. S. Patrick, G. Goldstein, W. H. Woon, J. Lewis, E. Perry, W. H. Nimmo, and F. Bunckenberg; club captain, Mr. E.- Perry; hon. secretary, Mr. J. Washer; hon. treasurer, Mr. W. F. Horuig; management committee, Messrs. R. J. M'llwraith, S. E. Donne, J. MofSt, K. Shaw, and F. Roberts; match committee, Messrs. F. Roberts and T. Collerton; delegates to the Wellington Rugby Football Union, Messrs. E. Little, W. F. Hornig, F. Roberts, and S. E. Donne; hon. auditors, Messrs. F. A. Allen' and G. A. Wilkes.
