Simpson was remanded till this morning'on a charge of failing to comply with the term of an order to maintain his wife, who. resides in Dunedin'; William Newman, who took ndvan-' tage_ of Kate Sweeney, and stole her. furniture, va'ued at-£2, was sentenced to imprisonment for one month.
