HERETAUNGA BOATING CLUB

Sailing races were. abandoned last Saturday afternoonowing to the lightness of tho air, a most uncommon incident in Wellington Harbour, the only event being the 14ft. half-deckers, . of which three were sent away at 3.10 p.m., namely: Bittle and Macdonald's Miro, scr.; A. Colquhoun's Gil Bias, 35min.; G. Trovethick's Runa, 4min. Tho Runa gave up after going about half the course. The Miro rounded Rocky Point buoy at 4.4 p.m. four minutes ahead of the Gil Bias. From there home, a distance of lj} miles, the time taken was 'lhr. 43min., i the Miro crossing the line at 6hr. 43min. 15sec., and the Gil Bias at Ghr. 48min. 50sec. p.m., the Miro thus winning the first and second series for tho Thoriidon Dinghy Club's challenge cup. Ono more race still remains to decide th 6 winner.
