INTER-CLUB ROWING REGATTA

BEAUTIFUL WEATHER FOR THE CREWS STAR CLUB CARRY THE HONOURS The Wellington Rowing Association held an .inter-club regatta on Saturday, in place of their annual regatta, and devoted the proceeds to the Belgium Fund. In marked contrast to last year, when numerous visiting crews competed, the weather was fine, and the water absolutely calm. The rowing suffered to an extent by the absence of so many members of the clubs ■ with the Expeditionary Force, but a good afternoon's sport resulted. ■ The joint secretaries (Messrs. A. Lawrence and A. Donaldson) had the arrangements admirably complete, while the starts were expeditiously effected by Mr. J. Widdop. lhe jadges were Messrs. A. Newton, A. Mothes, and W. Knidd. The southern course was used, the finish-ing-post being the Taranaki Street Wharf, from which a good number of spectators saw the races. A boat followed each race, with a fair number on board in each case. All the clubs entered crews, the Navals, however, only having two boats out. Points were given, two for a win and one for- second place, for a points certificate, and the Star Club proved to be the champions of the harbour by nine points to Wellington's eight. Petone, who did hot start in the last race, secured six points, and Navals none. The results were:— MAIDEN POURS—Wellington B.C. (A. Donaldson stroke, G. Johnston 3, I\ Staveley 2, IJ.1 J .
