Sir, —With reference to tho wet canteen controversy could you inform me whether the matter lias been finally settled by the military officers, or whether it lias been shelved becauso there are possible political dangers of offending tne ultra-puritanical? Mr. Allen's latest statement ddes not cloar up the' real (Mint at issue. Is it the military opinion that there should be a wot canteen or do tlie officers think the men aro better without it? —I am, etc., UNCONVINCED. Wellington, March 20, 1915.
