AN APPEAL TO MOTORISTS.
Sir,—lf you would spare me a small space in your paper, may I be allowed to raise a small voice in the hopes that ray complaint may be given some consideration by some of the citizens who are endeavouring to assist in the patriotic causes of to-day? For. some time past it has been the custom to run a aeries of entertainments for our soldiers in canip. As there is no train, the only means of conveying concert parties to Trentliam has been by motor-cars, but by a few patriotic people. Being one of a party which went out on Thursday evening, the night being wet, two cars which had been promised were withdrawn by. the owners at the last •moment, on account of the dampness in the atmosphere, and out of Wellington's large mot(jr-car population we were only able to procure one maohino to take us to the camp. Surely it is not out of the way to ask for willing assistance in this direction considering the stormy elements wo bvave in travelling practically forty miles to help to brighten a camp ovening. Li assisting to entertain the soldiers at Trentham, if fifty' of our motor-car proprietors would lend their cars for, say, one night in a month for taking concert parties out, is it not more patriotic to help in this way instead of letting the soldiers seek diversion in our City hotels? —I am, etc., AMY WEBB. 3 Crosby Terrace.
