The Papal Legate, Archbishop Cerretti, was the president. Archbishop Kelly delivered a panegyric and eulogised Bishop Grimes's great hospitality, wonderful energy, zeal, and piety. Dean Hills mado an application for permission to bury the late Bishop Grimes iu the cathedral, which the clergy and laity consider the greatest visible monument to the late prelate's years of labour. Tho application was thought to be only a formal matter, and astonishment has been caused by the reply from the Minister of Internal Affairs that he has no power to grant the request. It is pointed out that three years ago . the late Bishop Lenilian, of Auckland, was buried in St. Patrick's Cathedral. A further communication has been sent to the Minister.
