UNDERWATER PIRATES
ANOTHER STEAMER SUNK (Rec. March 19, 9.35 p.m.) London, March 19. The steamer Glonartuey, from Bankkok to London, with a cargo of rice, was torpedoed in the Channel, and- sunk in half ail hour. A destroyer landed the crew at Newhaven. An apprentice was drowned. The Glenartney was built in. 1911, and was a vessel of 5201 tons, her port of registry being Glasgow. She was owned by the Caledonian S.S. Co. SINKINC A SUBMARINE. CAPTAIN AND CREW REWARDED. (llec. March 19, 9.35 p.m.) London, March 19. Captain Bell, of the Thordis, has been appointed a lieutenant in the Naval Reserve, and has received tho Distinguished Service Cross. Tho Admiralty has given tho crew two hundred pounds. The captain and crew of the Thordis claimed to have rammed and sunk a German, submarine. The yessel was examined in dry dock, when satisfactory evidence was discovered of her having been in collision.
