CAN NEW ZEALAND SUPPLY? (Rec. March 18, 8.5 p.m.) Melbourne, March 18.The Victorian State Minister for Agriculture (Mr. Hutchison), replying to a deputation regarding the shortage of fodder, said that he would consult Cabinet with regard to the possibility of obtaining supplies from- New Zealand and San Francisco. Despite New Zealand's prohibition against export trade, tho Dominion Government might heed representations on behalf of the State. Tho above cablo i message was referred to the Prime Minister (Mr. Massey) last evening. Mr. Massey said that the plain fact was, as disclosed in the Registrar-General's reports, that there was a shortage in New Zealand. Tho Southland harvest returns had' still to come in, and he understood that these were verj good indeed, but even so, the fact remained that we had not a sufficiency for ourselves.
