MEETING OF PREMIERS
THE AUSTRALIAN CONFERENCE MATTERS OF MUTUAL INTEREST (By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright.) Melbourne, March 18. The Prime Minister (Mr. Andrew Fisher) states that he is considerably impressed with the value of an Australasian conference, such as he recently discussed with Mr. Massey. It might lead to reciprocal arrangement in trade and other matters, and would certainly tend to the cultivation of a better acquaintance. Among the subjects suitable for discussion would bo the question of reciprocity regarding the Workers' Compensation Act, by entering into an agreement whereby a. family wageearner becoming incapacitated when beyond his own State would have the benefit of the legislation o'f the country to which ho belonged. Other questions were statistics, defence, cable rates, currency, reciprocity, and interchange, of goods. Mr. Fisher said he had suggested a date for the first conference, but it might be worth considering whether it could not be worked with the Premiers' Conference, which is to be held in May.
