CONFERENCE OF PRIME MINISTERS
MR. MASSEY'S SUGGESTION
MEETING IN MAY (By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright.) Melbourne, March 17. It is stated that when Mr. Fisher (Federal Prime Minister) was in New Zealand he approached Mr. Massei'. re-! garding a Conference, and that Mr. Massey fell in with the idea, and suggested that such a conference he hold periodically in New Zealand and the Commonwealth. Sir Alexander Peacock, Stato Premier, in approving of the proposal, says such conferences would be rendered more important in view of the war, and the necessity for united actios in regard to defence and other matters. A conference is to be held in Sydney early ill May. Interviewed- by a reporter last night regarding tho statements in the above cable message, the Prims Minister (Mr. Massey) stated that when Air. Andrew Fisher, the Commonwealth Primo Minister, was in the Dominion, Mr. Fisher had approached him on the question of New Zealaud being represented at a conference of Premiers, and he had given general consent to the idea, hut no date had been fixed for the holding of the conference.
