WAIHI REEFS-GIGANTIC. The mine manager's report for the pas! week is as follows:—Crosseutting in 1000 ft. level. The north crosscut now measures 274 feet from shaft, the distance advanced for week is 15 feet, and the country being penetrated has firmed to strong blasting country, and is hard to drill. I should not be surprised to find this to bo a narrow ■ belt encasing the reefs system.' In the> south-east face, 17 feet. havo been driven, making total 191 feet, without any noticeable change in country; tho distance drivep. for both drives is 32 feet, being short compared with past weeks, but it is accounted for hy harder rock, and shorter time worked, owing to sickncse. All machinery is working smoothly, and work is now going on well.
