(By Telegraph.—Press Association.) - " Walmate, March 13. l 'A Waimate resident received a postf card'from Sergeant Humphries a few y days ago. _ It describes the occasion of 1 the awarding of the D.S.O. on January 5 D as* follows: —"Had a bit of a bust up 3 on December 20 and 21' last. Got hit - several times, but was lucky, and got 3 through without a scratch. Have, sent - my shirt to the mater as a souvenir. 3 It has eight holes in the tail (please I don't think I was running away), but a I happened to bo leaning over a poor - chap who had 'stopped one' when they turned'the machine-gun on me, and God knows how I am here with a whole skin —but it's the way of the world, bo there you are." .
