Thomas Alexander Browne was born in London in 1826, and-arrived in New South Wales with . his father in 1830. He was educated at Sydney College, and was a pioneer, pastoralist in Port Fairy district, Victoria, from 1844 to 1856. Owing to the droughts he abandoned pastoral pursuits in 1869. • He was Police Magistrate and Warden of Goldfields in Neiv South Wales from 1876 to' 1895. He made a popular hit rritli "Robbery Under Arms" in 1888. and since then has published numerous attractive-sporting reminiscences. At 78 he produced "The Last Chance: A Tale of the Golden West."
