WAR TAX.

Sir, —If there is to be a war tax, do you not think it would be a fair thing to jjut a tax on the totalisator? The recipient of a dividend would not object to a deduction of .10 per cent. The Government could advance the monthly payments to the Belgian Fimd, paying themselves as the tax came in. It would to my mind bo a good way out of the difficulty.—l am, etc., WAIKANAE.
