Petherick has signed on the Victoria as as6i6tant purser. Mr. J. Owen hae joined the Blenheim as maito, in place of Mr. G. W. Brown, who has come aehore. Mr. N. Morgan, chief officer of the Northern Company's steamer Rimu, has had to come ashore owing to an accident which happened to him about a week ago. Ho was handling some sheep on the steamer when he slipped and fell, striking Bome fittings with his left - side. Since then lie found difficulty in breathing, and npon consulting a doctor yesterday found that one of his ribs was fraotured. Captain -Hammond has taken charge of the Katoa at Newcastlo, relieving Captain Norton, who has been transferred to the Wairuna at the same port.
Captain Kctidell, who has been in charge of the Wairuna, lias 'proceeded to Sydney for instructions.
Captain K. Livingstone, who has been ashore at Sydney on transfer, has been placed la oommand of the Oonah, and Captain Davis lias transferred from the Oonah to the Kanna.
O-plain H. H. Williams, late • of the Kama, is ashore at -Welington awaiting instructions.
A cargo of twal will be loaded at Newcaetle this week by the Kurow for Timaru. The Katea was to have left Newcastle yesterday for the Bluff, Dunodin, and Oamaro.
It is announced that tie Government training shi]j Amokura's next trip will be to'the outlying southern islands in search of castaways, and also to examine depots.
Cable advices received from London state that the New Zealand Shipping Company's Opawa has isailed for New Zealand ports.

A large Btaff of boilermakera is busily engaged setting up the Union Company's Westmoath's furnaces ■ at Port Chalmers, and efforts are being made to set her away on Monday or Tuesday for Bluff, where she will oomplote the discharge of he* Liverpool cargo,- and oontinue her Homeward loading. : ,

Overhaul and survey to the Union Oo.'s Kaiapoi is expected to be completed at Wellington in time for the vessel to sail for -the West Coast on Wednesday.
Telegraphic advice received from Westport sta.ted.that the Mapourika was expected to leave there for Wellington direct at 10 a.m. to-day. Port should be made between 7 and 9 o'clock to-morrow morning. The Blackball Cool Company's Ifga.ktrt» will -be placed on the Wellington Patent Slip early nert week for overhaul and euro;. ■
Bod weather at Napier has been responsible for delaying the: A. and A. Line's Maresfield at that port., Consequently the vessel will not arrive at Wellington to discharge New York cargo till to-day. Departure will tfe taken on Tuesday next. Leaving Wellington to-day the ShawSavill liner Tainui will proceed oh to Lyttelton to complete discharge of Home cargo. Subsequently the liner will load at Dunedin, Lyttelton, and Wellington, leaving the last-mentioned (port for London this month.
The Government steajner Hinemoa, which returned to Wellington yesterday morning Biter having visited southern lighthouses, will go out to Cook Strait fights on Monday.
Continuing her journey from London, the Shaw-tjavill liner Matatua is expected to leavo Auckland to-day for Gisborne, Napier, and Wellington. She is due hero on March 10.
The local office of the New Zealand Shipping Company has received advice that the Queen Margaret arrived at London from New Zealand ports on March 3, also 'that their chartered steamer Somerset left Tciienffe for the Home port on March 2. From Wellington the Karon will proceed to Greymouth to load timber for Melbourne and Adelaide.' Subsequently the vessel will co on to Edithburg and Wallaroo to pick up oargo for Timaru and Lyttelton.
It is reported by cablegram that tire New Zealand Shipping Company's E.M.S. Tu raisin a has left London for Cape Town, Hobart, and Wellington.
Laden with a cargo of explosives, ex the Matatua, from London, the auxiliary schooner tln:a is due at Wellington from Auckland and Gisborne to-morrow. She will procecd on to southern* ports on Monday.
