TRAMWAY ACCIDENT
HORSE KILLED AT KILBIRNIE. Shortly before 1 p.m. yesterday a serious collision took place between Seatoun-bound car and the Defence Department's wagon, driven by a member of the local forces, at the junction of Moxliam Avenue and Goa Street, which, lias the reputation of being a very dangerous corner. The tramcar was speeding at a' good rate down the avenue when the -wagon, pulled by two sturdy half-draught horses, swung suddenly on to the road from Upper Goa Street. The driver tried his utmost to pull back ibis horses, and the motorman clapped on his brakes, but it was too late to avert a violent collision, the car rushing right into the horses as they were crossing the track., One of the animals was so badly injured that it had to be shot, on the spot, and the other was knocked about. The glass shield of the car was smashed to pieces, and the apron was bent, but the motorman was not injured. The car was fairly well laden with passengers, and three or four of the ladies fainted.
