METHODIST MINISTER ARRESTED.
ON A SERIOUS CHARGE. (By TeleeraDl.—PreEs Association.) Chrlstohurch, March 4. A sensation, was oaused in the city today when it became known that a Methodist minister had been arrested on a charge of wilfully exposing himself, in certain public gardens. To a policeman he 6aid that he was the Rev. William George Maslin, of Foxton, and that he was in Christchurch to attend the Methodist Conference. Maslin was brought before the Magistrate's Court this afternoon. He elected to be'dealt with summarily, and a remand and bail was applied for. When Sub-Inspector ,Hastie had explained the circumstances, the Magistrate asked, "Who is this man?" Counsel for accused: His name is Maslin, and I am sorry to say he is , a member of the Methodist ministry, and was attending-the conference. He has, a perfectly feasible explanation of his actions. ... The Magistrate said he would allow bail,, hut would make it substantial. Accused was remanded till Saturday morning, bail being allowed, self £'200 and two sureties of £100 each.
