DUKE K.AHANAMOKU CARNIVAL. A record attendance is oxpected at To Aro baths on Saturday afternoon, when tho public will havo the opportunity of seeing tlie world's champion 6wimmer Duke .Kahanamoku, accompanied 'by George Cunha, who ranks next to the Duke in. the swimming world. A firstclass programme of events has been, ptovided, and a special sub-committee has been set up to provide entertaining, and amusing items between the races. Ladies! races have also been added to the programme. Ticket-holders are advised to attend early, in order to avoid .disappointment. The visitors will arrive from Christchnrcb on Saturday morning, and the committee propose that they be' the guests of His Worship the Mayor at the Town Hall. The Duke will afterwards be taken by iiiotor to inspect the principal parts of tie City.
RAHANAMOKU CARNIVAL AT GREYMOUTH. (By TelegM-Bh.—Frees Aosoeiation.). Hokitlka, March 3. Duke Kahanamoku, accompanied by' George Cunha and Mr. Evans, manager, and a number of Canterbury _swimmers, arrived here to-day, and in the afternoon competed at' a carnival held ia the local municipal baths. There were about one' thousand people present. The champion's time in the 100 yards handicap was 57 S-oscc. Neither 6c>orcd a win, the handicaps concedcd being too big. Cunha swam 50 yards in 25 3-sset. The exhibition .given by both swimmers were much epjoyed, and both swimmers expressed surprise at the conveniences at the baths.' The visitors were conveyed to Lake Kanieri in motor-cars, and were much interested in the scenic attractions in that vicinity. The party, who were entertained at a smoke .concert to-night, leave to-morrow morning overland for Christchurch.
