TEACHERS' RESIDENCES
. TO BE DISPENSED WITH IN . FUTURE. (By Telegraph—Press''Association.) ' Auckland, March 3. The Education Department has mad# an important pronouncement on a question of policy so far as concerns the provision of residences for head teasers. In future it is proposed to dispense with teachers' residences .wherever it is possible to do so. _ . The Secretary for Education has informed tho Auckland Eduoation Board that the Minister does not see his way to make a. grant for a now residence at Noaxuawahia, as proposed by the board. The policy of tho Government as recommended by tho Edncatiqn Committee, is, he states, to dispense witn teachers' residences wherever it is P O3 " 6ible to do .so, and it is considered that this should be such a case. Ihe Minister would 1 be glad, therefore, if the board would make'the existing house sorve the purpose for so long as possible until Ac headmaster oonld obtain other accommodation,, when aouso could be disposed of, with the site.
