THE PEOPLE'S WANTS
DEPUTATIONS TO THE CITY COUNCIL. Sundry deputations will air grievances and requests the City ' Council this evening. In view of the partial remission of rates on some of the sports grounds, the controlling authorities of the Star Boating Club, Wellington Rowing Club, and the Wellington Old Navals' Boating Club have deputed 'emissarie3 to wait upon the council to ask for similar treatment. Mr. William Tonks will attend the" meeting to air his views on what the council should, do respecting the road which leads from Daniel Street, round the eastern side of Newtown Park, to the hilly land beyond, where Mr. Tonks has interests. A deputation of residents, of Wright and Wallace Street are to approach the council with a request for more direct nccess to the tramway terminus in the. latter street. A fourth deputation will urge that more adequate bathing-shed accommodation be provided on the Kilbirnie side of Evans Bay.
