THE ECONOMICAL MOTOR-215 MHE9 ON 7 GALLONS OP PETROL. Last Friday, at 4.50, Mr. S. R. Stedman arrived 'at our Christchurch garage in his 10-23-h.p. Humbcr Car from Dunedin. Mr. Stedman left Dunedin (where ho in, agent for Humber Cars) on his annual business trip to _ Christchurch, at ti.2o a.m., and maintained an average speed throughout the journey of over 25 miles , per hour. The Humbcr Car weighs 18cwt: fully equipped for the road, and has already dom> over 11,000 miles without a niK-hamca' stop. The petrol consuihption was worked out carefully by Mr. O. X J. Wilson, of Invercargill, who accompanied Mr. Stedman, and it records 30 miles to a gallon. On a gallon of lubricating oil the Humber runs 1700 miles, and the running cost approximates three guineas for 1000. miles. These are facts. Droved and certified by Mr. Wilson.
