KELBCRN CLUB. Tho president of the Kelburn- Bowling Club invited. the members to meet him at the new pavilion recently erected for the. club on Friday evening. The gathering proved' to ;be, by unanimous consent, the most enjoyable and successful in the club's history. V Kelburn Club has had many vicissitudes, but the step decided on last year, to abandon the old green and lay down a new one under better conditions has proved a huge, sutcess, and those who have the directing of operations are satisfied that they will ere long, be able to offer their bowling friends connected with other clubs a most attractive green upon which to try conclusions. A further subject for congratulation is the neat and convenient pavilion which has been constructed. It compares favourably with anything possessed by any kindred club in Wellington other than that of the parent club on Wellington green. As is customary here the building is arrangedin two flats, each measuring 16ft. by 32ft., thn social room on the top-being fitted with all the conveniences for preparing and serving tea and coffee. The lower room is; of course, furnished to accommodate all the bowls and accessories used in the ganie. All the property formerly used aa a bowling green having been disposed of for building sites, the directors decided to transfer to the new premises without delay, and play commences there on Saturday without'the usual demonstration which has bean postponed until the commencement of next season. The games on Saturday consisted of a match, President v. Vice-president, resulting in a victory for the former. The scores were: — ' : President—Rist, Baldwin, Thomson, Batten (s.), 17; Giles, Brooks, A. Johnston. Ro'utley (s.), 24; Wakelin; Wynne, F. Johnson, Dall.
