HIGH COMMISSIONER'S REPORT The High Commissioner reports as follows to the Prime Minister: Paris reports • —At Lombaertzyde the Allies' artillery demolished a blockhouse and the enemy look-outs. In the Champagne region the successes realised yesterday were maintained: all German counter-attacks were repulsed. The Allies' aviators discharged sixty bombs at railway stations, trains, and enemy's concentrations. It was a very efficacious bombardment. Between the Argonne and Meuse the Allies' heavy artillery destroyed armoured shelters. The enemy was unable to retake the trenches captured. London, February 26. Au officer of the Eighth Bavarians, who was taken prisoner, stated that'he had been unable to prevent panic. Most of his men fled before the intensity of our fire, -and those remaining were killed. Our gain represented five hundred metres of trenches. There was violent bayonet work, and two hundred of the enemy's dead were round in one trench. After seven attacks the enemy then retired exhausted, losing half their effectives."
