THE RETIREMENT FROM EAST PRUSSIA FRANK ADMISSION BY THE RUSSIAN STAFF Petrograd, February 24The Russian Staff admits that almost an entire Army Corps was lost in the recent retreat ; from East Prussia. Only broken and disorganised portions escaped. The newspaper "Retch," commenting on the report, says: "The Grand Duke Nicholas lifts tho curtain as frankly and truthfully as on previous nonsuccessful occasions. The German forces were so great that the -Tenth Army Corps could not withstand them. This glorious corps fought with unusual courage and stubbornness,' though many times outnumbered. AH honour and glory to the heroic men who sacrificed themselves to save others." (Rec. February 26, 1.20 a.m.) Petrograd, February 25. The retreat of General BulgakofE's army corps is likened to the British retreat from Hons. It occupied nine days. The High Commissioner reports (London, February 25, 5.20 p.m._ "Petrograd reports that in the Augustowo Forest two Russian regiments which had been surrounded, and wore supposed to have been lost, broke through the enemy's lines, rejoining their own troops. __ . "A battle on the right bank of tho Narew (a tributary of the Vistula) is extending with continuous German attacks along the whole front from the Bobra (a tributary of tho Narew), to the Vistula region and Bodzanow. lighting is becoming extremely severe in the Przasnysz region. i "In the Carpathians there has been desperate fighting east of Lupkow Pass.
