TIMARU MAYORALTY

ME. CRAIGIE PRESSED TO ST AM). '< ■ ■ i — (By Teiegrasli—Press Association) Tlmaru, February 24. 'A representative deputation of citizens waited on Mr. James Craigie, M.P., and presented a big requisition asking him to' contest the- Mayoralty, from which he retired three years ago after ten years' service. Mr. Craigie expressed appreciation at the requisition, .but said it would be better for the town to have a Mayor who was not a member of Parliament, as each position, required a man's full attention. Had it not been for his Parliamentary work, he would feel it his duty to offer his services in the Mayoralty. . - • •
