THE ANNUAL CONFERENCE. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) Christohurch, February 34. The annual meeting of the New Zealand Branch of the British Medical Association was resumed to-day, Dr. Irving (president) in the chair. A communication was received from the Nursing Association asking tbe council to receive a deputation on the subject of- unqualified nurses. It was decided to Teceive tie, deputation tomorrow!
The question of the relationship of tie ■ association to the Military Hospital at Trentham was discussed at 6ome length, end during the discussion several; ambiguous and doubtful points were cleared up. It was announced that tie full amount required had been practioally subscribed; but as subscriptions were still ooming in. tbe fund had not been, officially closed, y . An interesting paper on "Acmte Spondylitis and its Surgical Treatment" was read by Dr. Kinder (Auckland), and was followed by a discussion. _ I Dr. "W. M. Mac Donald (Dunedin) read a paper on "Cerebraci Spinal Syphilis, with a note on Intrathecal Medication." The discussion which ensued elucidated, many of the very intricate symptoms of the widespread disease dealt with. In the afternoon, at the Christohurch Hospital; members attended a meeting of' the Medical Defence Union aria Benevolent Fund, and at 4.30 p.m. there was a demonstration of pathological specimens' by: Dr. Pearson;
