SPAIN'S FIGHTING SHIPS
A SIX-YEARS' PROGRAMME. (Fee.. February 24, 6.15 p.m.) London; February 24. The Spanish naval programme for the next six years will comprise four cruisers, ' six destroyers, twenty-eight submarines, three gunboUts, and eighteen coast vessels costing eleven millions.— "Times" atkl Sydney "Sun" Services.
The Spanish Navy at present consists of seven armoured ships and tea cruising ships, together with somo small fry, nine in number, described as gun vessels. Tho armoured fleet oompnsos four battleships—tho Alphonso XIII (19i3), Espana (1913), Jaime I. (1914), all of the same class, and the Pelayo (1897)— and the tildes armoured cruisers, Cataluna (1903), Emperador Carlos V (1S98), and Princesa. do Astnrias (1902). The cruising ships comprise the cruisers Extremodura (1902), Reina llegente (1908), and Rio de la Plata (1800) i four gun boat*, and three toryifo gyihflaj6<
