PREVENTION OF CRUELTY TO ANIMALS
The fortnightly meeting «f the committee of the' Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals was held last evening. Mr. V. R. Mereditih presided. It was decided to take proceedings in regard to , a case mentioned by Captain Henry. The case in. question' was was that of a horse discovered at Island Bay. which was in. a very bad way. and suffering great pain. As the owner was away, the inspector had secured the services of a veterinerary surgeon and had the animal destroyed. Another bad case was that of an express horse which had also ~been destroyed. In this case, it was decided not to take any action on the understanding that the owner of the animal paid.certain costs. .
