NEW ZEALAND ALLIANCE AND EXPEDITIONARY FORCE
At a meeting of the New Zealand Alliance Executive, hold yesterday, the followipg resolution was adopted:— : _"That we congratulate the Minister of Defence -on .the protection afforded to the members of the Expeditionary Force in the regulations gazetted on February 13, which provide that:— _ "1. No person shall sell any intoxicatrnc liquor to any member of the Defence Forces, or to any member of the Expeditionary Forces,'when in uniform, for consumption olsewhere than on the premises where: it is sold. ■■ "2. No person shall give, or supply, or act as agent for the purchase of any intoxicating liquor for any member of the Defence Forces, when in uniform, for consumption elsewhere than on the promises where it is given, supplied, or purchased." The executive further congratulated the Salvation Army on its effort to secure signatures to the K.K. Patriotic l'lodgo during the course of the war, which reads:— "In order that I may be of the greatest service to my country, and carry out the wishes of tho Com-mander-in-Chief at this time of national peril, I promise until the end of the war to abstain from all intoxicants (except when such are qrdcred by a doctor), and to encourage others to do the same." We assure the Salvation Army of our heartiest possible support in their efforts.
