Victoria defeated South Australia by ten wickets, winning the Sheffield Shield. - South Australia, in its second innings, scored 258—Steel 43, Campbell (not out) 37, James 23, Pellew 26, Moyes 61. North Taranaki, commenced to-day in sultry weather. The wicket and outfield were fast. Batting first Wanganui compiled 271. The Taranaki batting was feeble. KARORI GOLF CLUB The .annual meeting of the members of the Karori Golf Club ' was held last night, Mr. M. Burnett presiding. The annual report (previously published), and the balance-sheet were adopted.
1 On the motion of Mr. Macbeth it was decided to award fho secretary an honorarium of ten cuineas for his services during. the past season. The treasurer was-voted an honorarium of two guinea's. It was decided that the season should be officially opened on Saturday, March 20. The links are available for play in the! meantime. Election of offioers resulted as follows.:—Club captain, Mr. J. Mandel (reflected) ; lion, secretary, Mr. Barry Keesing (re-elected); hon. treasurer, Mr. R. W. Atkinson (re-elected); 'hon. auditori.Mr. F. A. Barclay, F.I.A.,_N.Z. (re-elected).; management committee, Messrs. M. Burnett, W. Macbeth, T. R. Boyos, R. D. Hanlon, D. A. M'Lennan, and G. W. /Guthrie.
THE MIRAMAR CLTJB. Mr. M. W. Horton (captain) presided at the annual meeting of- the Miramar Golf Club, held in the Chamber of Commerce last evening; There were forty members present. After the report and balance-sheet were adopted without comment, the officers for the ensuing year were elected with the following result: —President, Mr. J. P. Firth; vicepresident, Mr. W. A. Kennedy; captain, Mr. A. Erskine; secretary and trpsurer, Mr. G. L. Sutton; committee, Messrs. C. H. Lawrence, W. E. A. Gill, G. S. Thompson, C. E. Richardson, M. W. Horton ; auditor, Mr. Geo. Shand. ; There was ; a long and interesting discussion over the plans of the new clubhouse, which were submitted by 'Mr. Gray, Young, and it was eventually decided that the committee should.proceed with the work as soon as possible. In that connection an Advisory Committee of three women and three men was appointed to act'with the General Committee. The three men appointed wore Messrs. M. Marks, R. P. Ward, and J. S. Tennant. The Ladies' Committee of the club will appoint its own members to this committee.
