O'Malley, manager of the Pahiatua branch of the Union Bank of Australia, has received notice of promotion to the charge of the Greymouth branch, and will be leaving Pahiatua in the course of a few weeks. He will, however, take his annual leave before assuming his new duties at Greymouth'. Mr. Stebbs, manager of the branch' at the latter town, succeeds/Mr. O'Malley at Pahiatua. For some time past .Mr. O'Malley has, acted as treasurer for the Pahiatua A. and P. Association, .and he has been a popular and useful member. of the community in . other ways. Mr. F. W. Rowley has been appointed organist of St, Peter's Church during the absence at the front of Sur-geon-Major Kington Fyffe. : Mr. Charles J. Nathan (youngest son of the late Mr. J.. E. Nathan, who was one of Wellington's leading merchants), left for Auckland on Sunday night to catch the 11.M.5. Makura. which. leaves that port for Vancouver to-morrow. They will remain there a month before returning to their home at Devonport, Auckland. Mr. Daniel Ryan, manager in Aiick- > land for the Huddart-Parker S.S. Company, is seriously ill. He is suffering from an attack of blood poisoning. Mr. Ryan was formerly a. resident of Wellington, and was for some years in tho company's office heVe. ... ; Mr. J. P. Elliot, who was formerly in business in Masterton, but who has been resident in Sydney for rome years, is at present visiting the Wairarapa. M Guillaux, the French airman, who accompanied the First Australian- Expeditionary Force to Egypt, afterwards ■ went on to France. He. is now engaged in Paris testing Morane-Saulnier monoplanes for military purposes.. ' Captain D. J. Williams, who recently retired from the management' of. the "Onion Steam Ship Company's business at Newcastle, was entertained last week by the members of the Newcastle Chamber of Commerce. Mr. R. G, H. Blow, son of Mr. H. J Blow, Under-Secretary for Public Works, who has just completed a three .years' course at the Royal Academy of Music in London, and passed his examination for, the degree of Licentiate, arrived in Sydney last week.
