In the course of a remarkable interview with the American correspondent of- the London "Morning Post," exPresident Roosevelt frankly gave.■ his view of the German invasion' of Belgium. • • ■ . "Is it true," he was asked, "that you informed a German professor' the other day that Germany'was bound to win the war?" - ■ * ! That'6 another lie," the Colonel replied emphatically. "What happened was this. The professor came-to see me and sketched out his ideas of the war. He told me Germany had beaten hack Russia, would bring France to her knees; and by next summer would hold the Channel. 'Thon,' he said, 'we 6ball Enir troops into England and capture ondon.' ... "'Yes,' I said, 'and then you will have to fight America.' "Why?" asked the profossor. "'Because, if we don't fight you, you'll treat us as you have treated Belgium.'' ■ ' ... "But what is 'the use of contradicting; silly lies like this? It only draws public attention to what an,y intelligent man knows is. a mid invention."
