Pahiatua is agitating to secure better representation on _ tho. Licensing Committee.- The Committee for several years past has consisted mainly of Woodville residents and all the meetings are held at Woodville. Miss Ashby, of Mangatainoka, who is about to undergo training at Chnstchurch for a dcaconess in tne Methodist Church,' was tendered a farewoll social by the Methodists at Mangatainoka. The gathering was very largely attended and several handsome presents were made to Miss Ashby,' who has been popular with all classes. She was also tendered a '"social -by tho Anglican Church at Mangatainoka, for whom she has often acted as organist. The vicar (the Rev. R. Hermon) handed her gifts on behalf of . the congregation.
