DOMINION CONTRIBUTORS' GIFT. Contributors _ to the fund to provide tobacco and cigarettes • for our troops ivho .have gone abroad ,to fight the battles of the Empire, will be pleased to learn that a large shipment of tobacco in tins suitably labelled has been forwarded to the men as the result of their contributions. The manufacturers of the tobacco write as follows: — \ EXTRACT PROM LETTER RECEIVED FROM LONDON. "We have decided to send 11001b. of Capstan navy cut medium tobacco In Jth tins, and w© have pleasure in informing you that the goods were shipped from Birkenhead yesterday. On each tin of tobacco we had pasted a label, so that the receivers will know that goods have been presented by- the people, of New Zealand through Tire Dominion newspaper. We shall Teqiiest the Officer Commanding the - New troops to inform us of_ the safe arrival :of the goods,, and" • his letter we shall forward on to yon." ; . The tobacco should ere this have reached tho troops, and no doubt will have been greatly appreciated by them. We may remind our readers that contributions to this fund for the supply of cigarettes and tobacco to members of the New Zealand Expeditionary Forces may be sent either to' this office or to His Worship the Mayor—2s. 6d. will buy 100 cigarettes or 4oz. of tobacco. Tommy Orihu, a well-known I-lawke's Bay identity, died at Waimarara yesterday at the aeo of 70.
