Sydney's reception to Monsiguor Cerreti, the Pope's delegate, was the largest and most imposing Roman Catholic ceremony ever held in Australia. A flotilla of ferry boats escorted tlie Archbishop across the harbour, whistles were blowing, bands playing, crowds cheering, and bells pealing. Crowds lined the route to the Cathedral, where an impressive official ceremony took.place.
