ASSISTANCE PROMISED.
BY MEAT EXPORTERS.
(Roc. February .12, 10.30 p.m.) Sydney, February 12. A conference of meat exporters unanimously decided to assist tha Imperial Government by promising to hand over all available meat stocks whenever desired, thus ensuring sufficient supplies for Allied armies, also to safeguard tho supply for the public of Britain, both as regards quantity and price. It is generally admitted that the position would create' difficulties in carrying out the provisions of tho Act. Tho trade thinks that if prices are fixed on tho basis of London parity there would be no difficulty in securing outside supplies beyond those already stored. _ It is anticipated that tho question of freightage will create a difficulty, ton-' nage being exceptionally scarce of late, and tho position will not bo easing before August.
VALIDITY OF BILL TO BE TESTED. (Rec. February 13, 1.2-5 a.m.) Sydney, February 12. Mr. Holman stated in the Assembly that the validity of the Meat Bill is to bo tested. FULL SUPPLIES FOR'THE ALLIES. (Rec. February 12, 8.10 p.m.) Melbourne, February 12. On receipt of an Imperial dispatch regarding meat supplies the Government summoned exporters, and. secured promises that full supplies would bo available for tho Allies' armies.
