' -» — A NEW APPOINTMENT. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) Auckland, February 11. The Eight Hon. W. F. Massey, Prime Minister, had brought under his notice a report that the Government had, appointed Mr; J. C. Anderson, of Christchurch, Parliamentary Librarian at' Wellington without inviting applications, and without recognition of the claims of the present Library staff.' He said the new appointment did not mean 1 that the present Librarian (Mr. Charles Wilson) had been superseded. To the best of his'knowledge, tho services of Both' Mr. Wilson ana hiß first assistant. (Mr. Thompson) were being retained. Mr- Anderson, therefore, would be mere-' ly joining the staff. As to the customary procedure in such an appointment, Mr. Massey said he understood it was for the Speaker of the House to arrange; after consultation with the Min-' ister in charge of the Department. Mr. Eraser was now in charge,: but he thought the appointment had probably been made by his predecessor, Mr. Fisher.
