BANKRUPT REDEEMS HIS PROMISE. Some fifteen or. sixteen years ago Mr. J Joseph Myers, of Wellington, wa-s ad-l judged bankrupt. Only a very dividend was paid at the time, but Mr. iMyers told tho then Official that ho would make it one of his ob-; jects in life to pay the creditors 20s. hl'l the pound. The total of tho balance} payable to the creditors, including the-j Official Assignee's statutory commissions on tiie basis of the creditors being paid! in full, was £2503 17s. lOd. After these, many years Mr. Myers finds himselfi able to redeem his promise to the Official Assignee, and yesterday' a chequei for the amount stated was handed bv,« his solicitors to the Acting-Official As-' signee, and the creditors in the estate. wMI receive payment in fuE of their-or-i iginal claims.
