The difficulty which has existed in providing sufficient refrigerated space for tho carriage of New Zealand's produce to England was referred to in Auckland;on Monday by tho board of directors of tlio New Zealand Dairy Association. Under the direction of the board, the general manager of the association, Mr. H. E. Pacey, has written to tho Prime Minister a letter of appreciation, .in tho course of which ho stated that the directors of the association "have placed on record their appreciation of, and thanks for, the strong action taken by your Government in meeting the altogether unprecedented transport difficulties which have resulted from tho war ; in which our Empire is involved, hut for which action tho inconvenience and loss to tho producers of this Dominion would have been greatly increased. My board deprecates tho statements to the contrary, which have been circulated." Owing to the increased cost of flour, sugar, and other necessaries, the price of afternoon tea in Pongaroa has been increased from 6d. to Bd., says onr Pahiatua correspondent. The military authorities intend to publish the names of Trentham camp offenders in future. It is reported that the- 1 following members of the Expeditionary Force at Trentham have been sentenced by court-martial to detention for 35 days for assaulting picket and using obscene language:—Private A. Collins, Private M. Andrew, and Private H. Morris. • Each of the prisoners named forfeits 35 days' pay by Royal Warrant. During the week ended February 6 39 cases for breaches' of military discipline were dealt with; "B" Company 3rd Reinforcements headed the list with 7 cases, being followed closely by "C" Company 3rd Reinforcements and "B" Company 4th Reinforcements, 6 cases each. "D" Squadron, 3rd Reinforcements, and "B," "C," and "D" Squadrons, 4th Reinforcements, each, had the honour of possessing clean sheets. In the previous week 127 cases were dealt wit.h .; Mr. Andrew Wylie, for many years in partnership with Mr. C. P. Skerrett, has commenced practice as a,barrister and solicitor in Sussex Chambers, Panama Street. A meeting of the Hataitai Branch of the National Reserve was held last evening, when the following officers were elected':—President, Mr. H. Amos; committee, Messrs. A. G. D. Bayfield, N. A. Grant, J. C. Burbery, and A. H. V. Munro; treasurer, Mr. H. M. Christie; secretary, Mr. J. H. Bettany. A large number of enrolments were received, the membership now standing at about 100. The meeting was' very enthusiastic, and the future is looked to with confidence. In the report of the case Cudby and others v. A. J. M'Curdy yesterday it was not made clear that the AuditorGeneral .declared Mr. M'Curdy's seat on the Upper Hutt Town Board vacant, and that by direction of the AuditorGeneral, Mr: M'Curdy paid to the Town Board the 7s.'. 6d. advertisement charged and £10 penalty in August of last year, some weeks before the present, proceedings commenced, but apparently this was the position.
