WELLINGTON MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE MEETS. The committee of the Wellington Cricket Association met last night. J-Uere were present Messrs. C. G. Wilson (presiding), M. J. Crombie, J. FanJJing, E. M Beechey, S. Brice, F. M. Martin, and A. E. Wilson. A deputation consisting of Messrs. A. A. Marryatt and J. C. Cusack, representing the Amateur Athletic Association, waited on the committeo in reask'ng assistance in securing the Basin Reserve for the N.Z..A.A.A. championship meeting on March 13. The' spokesman, Mr. Marryatt, explained how it was eventually decided to hold the meeting at Wellington this year, and how it was proposed to devote the proceeds for the relief of wouuded troopers and their, dependents. In reply to the deputation, the chairman remarked that the object was a commendable one, and the fact that the various City sports bodies had already raised £1000 towards different war relief funds showed a very excellent and patriotic spirit. ' it was decided, on the motioi) of Mr. Beechey, to postpone all the association's matches on March 13 and to give every' assistance to t'he A.A. Association to bring about the success of the meeting.. . Tlie committee considered the following motion passed bv the New Zealand Cricket Council:—"That the associations interested' in the Plunket Shield competition be requested to dominate one delegate each to a committee f«r the purpose of arranging interpfovincial matches for next season: such delegates to nave the power to hind their associations, and tlie committee to be presided over by the chairman of the Management Committeo of the council." After some discussion the following motion, pronosed by Mr. Crombie, was carried: —"That thn New Zealand Council be_ informed that the Wellington Council is prepared to appoint a delegate to the committee to draw up a draft programme of matches to be. submitted to the various associations for their approval." The Wellington eleven to play apainst Hawke's Bay on Saturday was selected os follows:—W. Baker, E. M. Bemhev, W. T. Bray, D. Hay, A. Fenton. E. M. Phillips. A. Paterson, K. H. Tucker, •T. S.
